Steve Davis, of Sunheart Metalworks, has collaborated with Lorrie Lane to mount an exhibition at Lowe Mill in Huntsville. Titled “Big Heads, Small Faces,” it features Steve’s large sculptures of inspiration people and Lorrie’s small acrylic pieces.
Steve intends that his “Big Heads” will inspire the viewer to consider and reflect upon persons that are meaningful to them. The heads are larger than life and the possibilities can become endless as they look back at you. The forged and fabricated sculptures are over five feet tall and represent
- William Blake
- George Floyd
- Ruth Bader Ginsburg
- Vanessa Nakate
- Nick Saban
- Greta Thunberg
- Sojourner Truth
- Malala Yousafzai
Lorrie explains her contributions:
The inspiration for this series of ‘small faces’ came about accidentally. As an oil painter I rarely use acrylic paint, but I needed to practice with this medium in preparation for a class I offered through another local art center. Using black acrylic paint on prepared watercolor paper, a set of individual and evocative faces began to emerge.
